The International Seminar on Democracy, Citizenship and Rule of Law arises from the confluence of academic cooperation efforts promoted by researchers from UVigo (Universidade de Vigo, Galicia, Spain), UEL (Universidade Estadual de Londrina, Londrina, Brazil) and UFF (Universidade Federal Fluminense, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil). The search for integration and enlargement of the dialogue about contemporary problems and the discussion of possible solutions are reasons that propel us to carry out this event.
The constant dialogue, the exchange of researchers and students, as well as the achievement of joint research projects, culminating in relevant academic events, are all elements desired and sought by the institutions involved in promoting this Seminar.
Seminar Objectives
• Discuss the most significant issues about democracy and the management of institutions from the perspective of building social justice and sustainability, considering the institutional crises and totalitarianisms present in the international scenario.
• Promote interinstitutional dialogue, by sharing specific experiences with each institution on the event’s theme.
• Analyze the challenges that face the law in facing contextual crises and in building sustainability with respect for citizenship and democracy.
• Disseminate the work developed at the Campus da Água, in Ourense, as well as at UEL and UFF, in terms of contribution to contemporary society.
• Provide opportunities for the construction and consolidation of relationship and research networks that turn into promising intercontinental academic partnerships.
