III SIDeCiED

The III International Seminar on Democracy, Citizenship and Rule of Law turns its attention to the debate around the issues and challenges facing Human Sciences and Social Sciences, especially Law, in the search for democratic, fair and egalitarian perspectives for human relations in society. And this in a global scenario marked by constant instabilities arising from institutional crisis, which has the growth of totalitarian movements worldwide as a symptom of exclusion and threat to humanity, generating global impacts on the management of institutions (governments, companies, families, etc.) and the existence of people in their insertion in society.

This theme is relevant to all societies and has been the subject of researches carried out by the institutions promoting the event: UVIGO, UEL and UFF.

The Covid-19 pandemic has worsened the situation of inequality between people and between nations, whether in access to information, food, housing, health and the minimum conditions for a life with dignity. But the current pandemic situation has provoked important discussions about criteria for the distribution of resources, at a planetary level, in a clash between positions that assume inequality, defend equality or seek equanimity. Therefore, the third edition of our event proposes as its theme “Inequalities, equality and equanimities in institutions: post-pandemic perspectives”.

This theme is relevant to all societies and has been the subject of researches carried out by the institutions promoting the event: UVIGO, UEL and UFF.

At UVIGO, the participating researchers are mainly involved in research projects developed at the Ourense Campus, at the Faculty of Law, through the Doctoral Program in Water, Sustainability and Development.

At UEL, participating professors are linked to the Master’s Program in Business Law, with research activities included in the event’s sub-themes.

At UFF, the participating researchers are involved in research and activities developed at the Faculty of Law and the Institute of Philosophy and Social Sciences, whether in the Master and Doctoral Programs existing there, or in Research Groups registered at UFF and CNPq (National Council for Scientific and Technological Development), especially through the Research Group on Democracy, Citizenship and Rule of Law (DeCiED).

The constant dialogue, the exchange of researchers and students, as well as the achievement of joint research projects, culminating in relevant academic events, are all elements desired and sought by the institutions involved in promoting this Seminar
